First Blog!! GORGEOUS BEAUTY TIPS!!

Hey, I'm Laura, welcome to the very first Belle Beauty Blog! I LOVE anything to do with beauty, I'm obsessed. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right? Well here at Belle Beauty, you can be even MORE beautiful. Every week [on Wednsday!] I will have some GORGEOUS products reviewed for you and some bonus beauty tips!! So here we go, gals - let's become BEAUTIFUL!

Beauty Blog #1: "Eye'm Enchanting..."
What guy doesn't love a girl with beautiful eyes? 80% of girls say they spend most of their make-up application time on their eyes - what, with all our gizmos & gadgets, how could the other 20% do without it?!! Okay, we're going to focus on bringing out the best of your eyes in this blog, not party eyes, more everyday stuff.

This look works especially well for school or work or a day shopping. A cute, natural look with emphasis on the eyes. Your eyes look their best if you choose the perfect eye shadow colour to go with your eye colour!!

If you have Blue Eyes; your eyes will shine bright with browns or light pinks. For a shimmering, jazzier look, go for dark grey and whitey-silver.

If you have Brown Eyes; any shade of brown will make your eyes glow, while blue, gold, lilac or colours with a red tint will enhance your features.

If you have Green Eyes; highlight your eye colour with fuchsia (not too heavy on the pinks though), lilac, brown and dark green. Salmon pink, anthracite and medium grey also give your eyes a beautiful shine!

If you happen to have Hazel Eyes; then count yourself lucky because any shades from the Brown or Green eyed sections will suite you!!

And finally, EYELASHES - what I consider the El Divo of my overall make up. Mascara is an essential. Don't forget an eyelash curler for a totally natural seductive look. Especially if you go to a strict no make-up school, it's like mascara - minus the mascara!!

Instead of splashing out for an expensive heated eyelash curler, just buy a cheapie non-heated one. Mine is from Penneys for just €2.50 and does the trick (plus it's pink!!) Seriously, don't bother with the €20 ones, or even worse, the heated €35 ones when you could use this old trick to get that flawless natural look....

Beauty Tip #1: Hold a regular eyelash curler under a hair-dryer for 5 to 10 seconds. Wait for it to cool enough so that you can bare the heat around your eyes, but don't wait too long. Curl both eyes as normal. Works just like a heated hair straightener - the heat curls the lashes 10 times more than normal!!!!! Will result in Bambi eyes. Guaranteed, I've tried it!!

Beauty Tip #2: To separate and enlargen eyelashes, use a mascara with a smaller brush (the old classic tiny brush Maybelline Great Lash in Blackest Black, €4.50, works perfectly). Start on the smallest lashes nearest your nose and use more mascara as you work out. To get rid of clumps - wiggle the brush towards the top to the lash and they should separate. Only do this though, when your mascara is still wet because if your mascara is dry - yes, you've guessed it - more clumps!!

Beauty Tip #3: I know they say 'never put mascara on your bottom lashes' but I totally disagree. It makes your eyes look even more open. And for poor little people like me, who have very sparse bottom lashes - its a must.

Beauty Tip #4: For a completly natural look never use eye liner on the bottom lid. Also this makes your eyes look smaller and sharper, so again, for the innocent Bambi look, avoid eyeliner like the Plague.

Beauty Tip #5: For even bigger eyes (how much bigger do you want?!) dab a tiny bit of almost invisible shimmery white or light silver eyeshadow or pigment into the very inside corner of your eye. When the light catches it, it will blend into your eyes beautifully.

And Voila! BAMBI EYES!! So your full natural make up regime goes like this, in this order! :

  • Cleanse, tone, moisturise.
  • Concealer, foundation, powder, a little blusher.
  • Eye shadow.
  • Mascara.

Remember, NO eye liner and spare the blusher too, just a creamy one for the apple of your cheeks would be poifect! (Bourjois Cream Blush, €6.50)- we're going NATURAL!!

Beauty Tip #6: Remember, you either do eyes or lips; never both (unless you're going for a Hallowe'en hooker look), so for this natural regime, use only a tiny bit of lipgloss. You've already got statement eyes, so no lipstick or harsh colours! Natural shimmery beige, clear or light pink glosses would be perfect. Try Essence Volume Up! Menthol Lipgloss in Clear or Light Pink, €2.99 (a steal!).
